Our physiotherapists are highly trained in a wide range of modalities, which most patients will find effective at providing pain-relief and restoring function.

Pain often arises because joints seize up. Stiff joints ache due to a lack of secretion of joint lubricating fluid (synovial fluid) which nourishes the joint cartilage. Stiff joints are also known to develop premature arthritic changes.

Unfortunately, if you have restricted movement in a given joint your body will automatically compensate for the lack of movement elsewhere leading to secondary injuries. This is the basis of most of the dysfunctional movement patterns we end up seeing every day.
Gentle joint mobilisation techniques can be applied by The Body Clinics physiotherapists to restore normal movement of your stiff, achy joints. In cases where joints are very stiff a manipulation may be required. This is where the joint is carefully positioned by the therapist and gently thrusted to restore full movement. Often the patient will feel or hear a small pop or click as the joint is manipulated.
Joint mobilisation and manipulative techniques are safe and effective in the correct hands – our hands!

Coronavirus Clinic Update

At this worrying and challenging time, we at The Body Clinic are prioritizing the welfare of our patients and staff. At the moment we are operating as normal. Please rest assured we have an increased focus on our already high hygiene levels, to ensure your safety in line with government guidelines. We are monitoring the situation daily, following Government guidelines to make certain that we have all necessary precautions in place.

As we have no idea of how long the situation will be like this we will continue to work fluidly together and according to PHC guidelines to protect the clinic environment for both the staff and our patients.

As things progress, we might reduce our clinic hours to allow for patients to be seen in their own homes (where possible and applicable). We are also working on offering phone and Skype consultations. We will let you know any necessary changes that we will have to make.

Thank you for your patience and support at this time and if you have any questions please call the clinic on 0161 941 5922 or Emma on 07739 694470
